Hi everyone, I have never worn my babies - ever! I did have a hard plastic-type carrier for my first child, but she was never fond of it, and neither was I. With my second, I didn't even bother with it. As I've been researching and learning, I've realized what an incredible thing I missed out on! I had NO CLUE about slings or anything like that. I definitely plan with future babies to use them!

My question now is about my son, he's 21 months old, and 30 lbs. Is it too late for him? If it's not (I hope it's not!), where do I begin? What types of carriers would work for him?

Thanks so much!

~Jenny

Jenny,
YES, you can babywear your toddler! It probably won't be as often as with a little 'non-mobile' one, but you can do it! As with every child, it depends on you and your child as to which carry you like and how often you do it!
My experience lies in wraps and slings. I really don't care for slings, but am not opposed to trying a hip carry now that my DS is a toddler. (He is 10 months old, 20 lbs, and is walking, so he qualifies, although he is young!) My favorite carries are the Front and Back Wrap Cross Carries. My DS doesn't enjoy the FWCC much anymore, unless I am out walking and he is sleepy!
Back carries are the best for a child who wants to see what is going on! Rucksack and BWCC are two I am familiar with. Search www.youtube.com with the terms 'babywearing' and 'toddler' and you will come up with some helpful videos!
As for types of wraps, the non-stretchy types are better for heavier babies.
Good luck! Just experiment and see what works for you and your little one!
:D
