I just started wearing my son on my back in a rucksack carry (we have a moby and he's 8 months). The problem that I can see happening is that he loves to take naps in the wrap and I can't figure out what to do with his head. Really, I can't just let it flop around;0) Is there anyway that I can wear him on my back and be able to tuck his head in? Thanks for any advise.

Peace & Light
Becca

In a ruck, you could try pulling the top rail up really high so that it would give his head a little support.
For naps, I love wiggleproof back carry. It starts out like a ruck - then you bring each tail up through baby's legs and over your shoulders a 2nd time. I thought it was a hard carry at first but wth practice it gets easier. When they fall asleep it's really easy to pass the top cross over their head. Here's a link to TBW carry of the week for wiggleproof

And here's one of my favorite pics:

Thanks for the tip. We got to try it today and I think with a little practice it might work out well. I love the picture of your little one. Very peaceful!

I tried to wrap DS in the back carry and I couldn't figure it out! He's only 5 months, is he too young?

mrsjtwalker posted two great threads on newborns using a back carry.
Here is the link to her picture with her 1 week old daughter:Newborn SHBC pics. As well here is a link to the video she added of a Newborn in a back carry.

I have never attempted to wear a newborn on the back, but I might just have to try when the next one gets here :-) For me the easiest way to do a back carry is to lay the wrap out on the sofa and then place baby right in the middle of the wrap. Then I would sit down on the edge of the sofa with babies bum touching my lower back. Then I could grab the wrap and yell for totingtots to help because I was stuck LOL

No seriously I did eventually get it, but it took a bit of practice.

She on the other hand would just swing the baby up on her back and wrap him right on.

Here is a good video of what looks like 5+ month old being wrapped. wrap a baby on the side and the back I think the key is just practicing a bunch.

ugh, tried again this weekend to wrap DS on my back and he kept sliding around....I watched the videos a few times. I think I need to find someone local who can show me hands on.

What carry are you doing? Is he sliding around while you are wrapping him or is it after he's on? Make sure you get a good pocket under his butt, between his body and your back. Also you may need to wrap more tightly to your back so that he doesn't have a lot of wiggle room.
If he's wiggling while you are wrapping, maybe let him play with something new or stand in front of a mirror so he can look at himself.

I was trying the secure high back carry. He seemed to be leaning to one side and almost falling. Is it possible to put a five month old in a rucksack carry?
