Since SHBC is over one/under one shoulder maybe that's why he's leaning.
You can definitely do a ruck with a 5 month old. As long as his knees are higher than his bum and you have your rails nice and tight he will stay in. I'll look for a picture of my dd in a ruck at this age. I'll be back ...

Okay, here's what I found. This was when she was 4 months old. See how the width of the wrap goes all the way from her neck to her knees? Her knees could actually be a little higher.
I liked crossing between her legs and tying in front when she was this little. It gave me a little extra security that she wouldn't fall out.
You may get butt poppage at first, but we all do, so don't get discouraged. I practiced a lot with a teddy bear. And then had my husband spot me.

Thanks! I'm gonna try it when DH gets home today...Jack wouldn't hold still for me! I found this video on youtube which showed how to do a rucksack carry, but it's with a toddler. Does anybody know a good video for a younger baby?

Have you tried a BWCC? It's relatively easy to tie and lends itself well to holding a sleeping baby because of the crosses as head support, and baby's lower position on your back.

Back wrap cross carry. It's the "Hike Hold" in your Moby instruction booklet.

Gid referred to a video of it here: wrap a baby on the back. If you search BWCC on youtube, I'm sure you'll find more. I'm sorry I don't have time right now to look.

HTH :D

I've been having trouble getting the ruck carry with Jack still. I tried looking on youtube for a BWCC with ruck handles but with no luck. Does anybody have any suggestions? I really want to carry him around more, but he's so squirmy!

My son is also very squirmy, ruck carries just really didn't work for us because of the whole safety factor. Check this video out, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEAOkIOEUuc
This is the carry that we use, ds is 11 months old. The only thing we do differently is that I put the wrap around him before supermaning him over my shoulder. Also, pay attention to how she fans the wrap over her arm before crossing over the babies back, this makes it so the wrap doesn't get all sorts of tangled. The babe in this video is so calm, nothing at all like my son, he's a mover. It takes some practice but is definitely worth it. Good luck :D !
